Think: Carmen San Diego meets Flavia DeLuce

Whered-you-go-bernadette-book-coverWe’ll be meeting on Tuesday July 25 at 7:30 pm in Napper Tandy’s (hopefully on the back deck!!) to talk about “Where’d You Go Bernadette” by Maria Semple, chosen by one of our group members. From the description: “When her notorious, hilarious, volatile, talented, troubled, and agoraphobic mother goes missing, teenage Bee begins a trip that takes her to the ends of the earth to find her.” There’s still plenty of time to blaze through this book if you haven’t read it yet, so pick up a copy at the Reference Desk and join us on Tuesday?

Postmortal-book-coverIn case you have to miss July’s meeting, join us on Tuesday August 22 at 7:30 pm. We’ll be reading another group member selection – “The Postmortal” by Drew Magary. This is a humorous near-future science fiction exploring what would really happen to society if we could suddenly cure aging and, potentially, live forever.
