Hi everyone! Welcome back after our 2 month holiday hiatus. We’ll be meeting tonight Tuesday 1/24/17 at 7:30 pm in Napper Tandy’s of Norwood to discuss “1Q84” by Haruki Murakami. I don’t know about you, but I’m pretty sure this is the longest book I’ve ever read. Sweeping, meditative, fantastical, and chock-full of literary and sci-fi references, we’re going to have a lot to talk about! And please do come even if you haven’t finished yet – you’re probably not alone 🙂
If you can’t join us tonight, copies of February’s book and audiobook are ready to pick up at the Reference Desk. For Tuesday 2/28/17, we’ll be reading “Crooked Letter, Crooked Letter” by Tom Franklin. Set in rural Mississippi, this gritty Southern mystery was both nominated for and won a pile of crime/mystery awards. Plus, it’s plot-driven and under 300 pages – the sort of palate-cleanser we could all use after working through the heady tome “1Q84.” (Calgon, take me away!…)
Finally, you could be scoring major points on our Winter BINGO! You can count any books, audiobooks, and graphic novels you’ve finished back through December, and BINGO goes through March 10th. Every finished BINGO row counts as a single entry in the prize drawing, and each book can be counted only once. Learn more here. Gift certificate sponsors include these local businesses: Cafe Paprika, Olivadi’s, Big Y, and Salon 599. Download the pdf or pick one up in the library. Good luck, readers!
