I just want to say thanks again to everyone who came out a rainy February night to celebrate our one-year anniversary as a book club! We couldn’t do this without you all, and here’s looking at another awesome year 🙂
Our March title will be “If on a winter’s night a traveler” by Italo Calvino. This is a bit of a throwback, written in Italian in 1979 and translated to English in 1981, but stay with me here. This is a book about you, as a character (yup, you’re part of this story!), reading this book. As you’re reading, you realize there’s something wrong with this book. Chapter One again? What’s going on here?? You set out to solve this mystery, becoming more and more a part of the book as you go. Think choose-your-own-adventure before those books were popular 🙂
Does this story sound familiar? Does it maybe sound like the recent JJ Abrams novel, “S.”? That’s because JJ Abrams ripped off this novel, hardcore. We don’t need posers, we’ll take the original, thanks. Vintage, baby.
Copies are available at Reference, so pick one up and join us on March 22nd at 7:30 pm in Napper Tandy’s!
