Well that took a turn

Sailor-TwainOkay, so I just finished “Sailor Twain: or, the Mermaid in the Hudson” over the weekend. Wow, it took a turn I was NOT expecting. Oh, we have things to talk about folks. If you haven’t had a chance to read the book, don’t panic. Run, don’t walk, to the Morrill Memorial Library and pick up a copy.  Yes, we’re meeting tomorrow (Tuesday night), but this is one book you can definitely read in a single night – I read 1/4 of the book over a single lunch break.

HornsAnd while you’re visiting the Reference Desk, you can get a jump on September’s title, “Horns” by Joe Hill. I’ve been wanting to read this supernatural mystery thriller for months, so I’m stoked. If you suddenly had the persuasive powers of the devil, and you had a serious score to settle and a killer to find, what would you do? “When it comes to revenge, the devil is in the details.” Bonus! “Horns” was made into a movie last year starring Daniel Radcliffe. We have copies of the book and audiobook available at the 2nd floor Reference Desk.

See you Tuesday at Napper Tandy’s at 7:30 pm!

Graphic novel, anyone?

Sailor-TwainHow can you be both laid-back and adventurous with your summer reading? Dip your toe into the world of graphic novels with “Sailor Twain: or, the Mermaid in the Hudson” by Mark Siegel. Full of atmospheric charcoal drawings about life in the Gilded Age on the Hudson River, the story takes us on a steamboat journey with a dreaming sailor, a philandering captain, and a mysterious mermaid. With very little text, this novel is a page-turner (seriously, I just read 17 pages in about a minute).

Pick up a copy at the Reference Desk, whip through it, and join us Tuesday August 25th @ 7:30 pm in Napper Tandy’s of Norwood. If you don’t see us right away, we might be on the back patio.  🙂
