Set for Summer

grasshopperjungleHi all!  Titles on Tap is set for summer with three great reads.  We’re meeting next week on Tuesday 6/23 to talk about “Grasshopper Jungle” by Andrew Smith.  This Young Adult novel is part sci-fi, part coming-of-age story, and part…wtf did I just read???  This is a page-turner, so even if you pick up a copy over the weekend you’ll have no trouble finishing.  Join us on 6/23 at 7:30 pm at Napper Tandy’s!

peckedtodeathbyducksFor Tuesday July 28, we’ll be reading “Pecked to Death by Ducks” by Tim Cahill. This is a travel book about the author’s (mis)adventures and encounters around the world. Each chapter is a different story, so even if you only have time to read a little, you should absolutely join us. How can you say no to such gems as, “The Llama Dilemma,” “Is It Fun Yet? A Saga of Sorority Women on Crampons,” and “The Dangerous Sports Club”?

Sailor-TwainWe’ll be meeting Tuesday August 25 to talk about the Graphic novel for adults, “Sailor Twain; or, the Mermaid in the Hudson” by Mark Siegel.  This modern sailor’s yarn is mostly composed of charcoal drawings with very little text.  Read it on the beach and you’ll be done in no time.

Copies of all three books are available to pick up at the Reference Desk, and don’t forget, we might have an ebook or e-audiobook copy available through Overdrive or Hoopla.  And, you can log Titles on Tap books in our Adult Summer Reading Program for a chance to win prizes.  Titles on Tap usually meets in the left-hand side bar, but if you don’t see us, we might have been lucky enough to snag a table on the back patio.  Cheers, summer readers!

  1. Sorry I couldn’t make it this month I am flooded with grad school work and I didn’t get a chance to finish the book either, but I’m looking forward to the upcoming titles- especially the graphic novel! I have a grad school residency next month so I’m not sure if I’ll be able to to read the next book but I’ll try! -Bonnie 😄

    • Hi Bonnie! We still have copies of July’s title if you’re interested. Every chapter is a different story by the travel writer, Tim Cahill, so if you only have time to read a couple that’s totally fine. I sort of figured people would be really busy over the summer 🙂 Good luck with your residency, and we’ll see you when we see you! (ps – I hope you like charcoal drawings in graphic novels) 🙂
